Ubuntu is an open source software operating system that runs from the desktop, to the cloud, to all your internet connected things. As usual, it's available for download as installable only DVD ISO images, also known as Alternate DVDs, for the bit and bit hardware plarforms.

This release is a regular release and as such, it is supported for 9 months. For those requiring longer-term support, we encourage you to install Ubuntu Studio Please see the release notes for a complete list of changes and known issues.

We realize that OBS Studio 24 has already been released, however we only include version 23 since by the time version 24 was released, the deadlines for inclusion in the Ubuntu repositories had already passed. This already supports a large number of applications that are already installed by default, and, per user feedback, provides superior session handling than the old LADI tools when paired with Carla.

For those affected, we suggest you find a new workflow for working with RAW images. Applications we suggest include RawTherapee and DarkTable.

Kubuntu unites Ubuntu with KDE and the fabulous Plasma desktop, bringing you a full set of applications. The installation includes productivity, office, email, graphics, photography, and music applications ready to use at startup.

Firefox, Kmail, LibreOffice, Gwenview are just a few installed and ready to use, with thousands more, available in just a click, from the Discover software centre. Please open bugs with the tag 'ubuntu-boot-experience' on any messages you see flashed after grub loads and before the new Ubuntu Splash screen xsplash displays. If you have trouble catching them before the splash screen loads, you can also check vt1 or dmesg output for copies of these messages.

We also accept photos or video attachments if that's easier, however please make sure the text is readable. The home folder encryption option in the installer is back, and after the installation, when the desktop appears, you will be prompted by a dialog to set up the encryption passphrase, in case you will ever need to recover your data from the encrypted partition.

What's new in Kubuntu and Xubuntu 9. Moreover, it appears that the user interface is becoming really really ridiculously good looking.
